Rentals

Our Community Centre is a well-used and attractive rural venue, nicely situated on five acres of meadow backing on to the forest, with a large gravel parking lot. Everything is on one level, and we are actively working towards total wheelchair accessibility. The facility provides a diverse complement of ongoing programs for fitness, health and well-being, recreation and learning. We also host numerous community meetings and events such as AGMs, music concerts, fundraisers and craft fairs.

To make it possible, our Board of Directors is committed to providing affordable event space for programs open to the community. The Centre is also an excellent venue for private functions like weddings, banquets, family reunions or private retreats. See our rates in the table below.

Main Room

The Main Room is bright and cheerful with its high ceilings, wood beams, and large skylights. The room is 1220 square feet in size, and will seat 60-70 people at tables or in rows of chairs. The large glass power door opens to a marquee tent that is erected in the warmer months, adding another 1200 square feet of space.

Social Room

A “Social Room” adjacent to the main room features a fireplace and comfortable lounge chairs, suitable for small meetings or as an extension of the Main room for larger functions. The Social Room is about 400 square feet, and seats about 12 people comfortably when used as a separate meeting space. It is joined to the Main room by a set of double doors.

Marquee Tent

During the warmer months (normally May to October) a marquee tent system is available on the side deck, with access from the Main room through a large, glass power door. This expands the space by another 1200 sq. ft., accommodating weddings or private functions for up to 110 guests.

Kitchen

The commercial-grade kitchen is equipped with a comprehensive catering inventory and can service the Main Room via a pass-through window. The kitchen is well set up with a gas stove and grill, dish sanitizer, and a large inventory of equipment.

Booking the Centre

The Mayne Island Community Centre Society is committed to keeping rates low for programs open to the community, for example, educational, fitness, or local annual general meetings. Use of our commercial kitchen can be included for a small fee, depending on usage (see Rental Rates table below).

If you are considering a larger public event, a deposit and other fees may apply. Serving food often requires that a Food Permit be secured at least 2 weeks before the event. If you are serving alcohol, a Special Occasion License is required, as well as event insurance through your agent, or purchased separately online from companies like PAL or DUUO. If you are uncertain about your requirements, please get in touch and our booking agent can assist you.

Weekend Rentals for Private Functions

Weddings, parties, banquets or other functions by invitation only are considered private functions.

A private event weekend rental includes exclusive use of the entire centre from Friday evening to Sunday early afternoon, use of our commercial kitchen, round and rectangular tables, table cloths, and place settings for 100 plus guests. A detailed inventory of kitchen equipment is available upon request.
