The Mayne Island Community Centre Society (MICCS) is holding a special general meeting on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Mayne Island Community Centre at 1:00pm. Registration will start at 12:30pm. The purpose of this meeting is to make a revision to the definition of a non-voting member of the society. The goal of this change is to give better access to youth in our community (anyone under 18) to the facilities and programs of the Community Centre. Please note that a change to the bylaws requires a 2/3 or greater majority of the votes cast at this meeting (proxies included and limited to a maximum of 10 per attending voting member according to the current bylaws).

The proposed change concerns non-voting members in Section 4 (2) which currently states:
(2) A non-voting membership is open to any person aged 18 years and older. A non-voting member may participate in any of the activities and programs of the Community Centre, but is not allowed to vote in Society meetings, be a director or hold proxies

We propose:
(2) A non-voting membership is open to any person regardless of age or residence. A non-voting member may participate in any of the activities and programs of the Community Centre, but is not allowed to vote in Society meetings, be a director or hold proxies.
